Took myself out to the symphony tonight! Bravo WTA. Bravo Northwest Symphony Orchestra. And BRAVO to The Musical Mountaineers always, but especially for playing Bella Ciao at the end of their appearance. Beautiful evening. 👏🥹🎶

Took a trip out to the Sage Hills area on the east side and saw tons of wildflowers starting to pop up! Another sunny and beautiful weekend spent recharging in the outdoors. 🐾🥾🌞🌾🌼✨

A few magical little moments spotted throughout West Seattle in the last 24 hours. 🌈🐰🌸✨ #happyspring
A double rainbow in the distance. A small baby bunny peering out of its little home under a fern. This little bean and at least two other siblings were snuggled in a small little hole. The cutest little peanuts. A beautiful bright red camellia blooming. A very pretty light pink cherry blossom blooming.

The magnolias weren’t the only amazing trees in the gardens though. The grounds were full of such a great variety of interesting and unique trees! 🌲🌳🍃
A variety of the “walking stick” tree with light pink catkins (slightly visible at the top of the photo!). An incredible cool looking conifer twisting its trunk in an artful way. A weeping Eastern white pine, or Pinus strobus, that stole the show in this section of the garden. The unbelievable bark of the Stewartia monadelpha.

Every way you turned had something new and beautiful to admire. Unreal!
A grotto space you could walk through with conifers over top and a climbing hydrangea throughout. Lake Lolog Barberry, or Berberis x lologensis. A very cool variety with plenty of bright orange flowers. (And I remembered to take a few more photos of signs this time!) A beautiful purple meadow anemone with a yellow center. Juno Iris, or Iris bucharica. A beautiful blooming yellow iris.

Third stop of the weekend: VanDusen Botanical Garden. I was BLOWN AWAY!! We spent over 3 hours here and did not even see the entire grounds. Absolutely making a return trip soon. Incredible gardens in such a lovely space that doesn’t feel at all like it’s in the middle of a city. WOW WOW WOW! 🤩🌲🌿🌷🌾🌸

Second stop: Queen Elizabeth Park and the Bloedel Conservatory. An oasis in the middle of beautiful hilltop gardens surrounded by unbelievable views of the mountains and Vancouver. What a treat. 🦜🌴⛰️

While the magnolias were some of the largest I have ever seen, we also saw so many amazing tiny plants!
A small purple globularia (a little puff ball looking flower). Burser's saxifrage, or Saxifraga burseriana (this one I was smart enough to actually include the tag in my photo!). A small ground cover with pink flowers growing on rocky terrain that I honestly can’t remember the name of, but is so dang cute!

We came at the PERFECT time to see huge blooming magnolias. Apparently last year, the buds were hit with a hard frost and didn’t bloom. Feeling extra grateful to see them in their prime today! 🌸

I love my job. Currently up on a work trip in Vancouver, B.C. visiting gardens and nerding out. First stop: University of British Columbia and their STUNNING gardens!! 👩‍🌾🌲🪵🌿🌵🌸🌷✨

Beautiful Japanese garden with so much moss! Pictures don’t do the completely serene vibes justice. A very cool nurse log in the University of British Columbia gardens. We saw dozens of nurse logs intentionally left to provide habitat for other plants and critters and looking very beautiful!
