Conservatives did more victim-blaming (attributions to individual shortcomings) and liberals did more system-blaming (pointing to societal barriers) about an unsuccessful striver. Both liberals and conservatives attribute the successful striver's outcomes to internal factors.

Take-aways: This research shows how people maintain belief in the American Dream despite evidence to the contrary.
Even with identical efforts and talents, successful strivers are seen as more hardworking and competent, better at time- and money-management.

agree! It’s partly because I see the BS in decontextualized ways Biden is framed as unfit that I don’t want to fall for the same. It’s justifiable from a tit-for-tat viewpoint but that can also just lead to spirals of justifying bad behaviour because the other side does it

I did see the brief video clip, yes, which made me wonder if there was missing context. There are other fact checks emerging if you don’t like Newsweek. I mean, I agree he’s unfit for lots of other reasons! But amplifying misleading claims just feeds his ‘fake news’ narrative.
