I had to access a biopsy from another GP for the same reason. Not a bulk biller so I had to pay by After Pay. I’m tired of hearing how much better our health care is than other countries. Maybe it is for those who can afford private health insurance 🤷‍♀️

Ian, my council divested all their services and no longer offers any at all. There no option of using Council services in most local government area now. Lots is pensioners in Melbourne are paying a very high private rent while they wait years for social housing and won’t have money for services.

I think the fees change on 1 November and also Council run services are way lower than those contracted to the private sector which are now the majority. I’m not saying ABC not beating it up, but it’s very concerning.

There is a widely held view that all pensioners are sitting on a retirement nest egg. Reality for many is living from payday to payday, budgeting to the last dollar, rationing heating and cooling…Especially for older women in private rental. This group will now miss out on My Aged Care service.

They are rushing people through with sub standard phone assessments. Only recommends ‘meals on wheels’ or cleaners rather than identify real needs and develop packages in consultation with the user. One person was threatened with waiting for ever for an ACAT assessment if she didn’t agree.

There’s a limit to how many times you can give the benefit of the doubt. Or shed tears over the nightly news while knowing that not one word of condemnation will be issued 😢

I have to agree. Even 10 years ago I had never been called “sweetie” or “dear”. Now that I am visibly aging it’s almost a daily occurrence. Even worse because I’m not someone who would ever be considered a sweet old thing by anyone who knows me 😂

Same experience for me with a chest infection last year. My GP has 3 -4 weeks wait time for an appointment. Can’t see her when I’m sick.

My only minor gripe is my urgent clinic is 3 suburbs away and not well connected by public transport. We need more of them.
