In my home game, I’ve paused to check on lines & veils as we approach one & asked for clarification during the game. I also ask safety questions as we go.

Theres also something about the act of recoding that is different than live broadcasting. I don’t publish the VODs of my stream — I stopped bc copyright, but I found it changed the texture of the experience so much that I never want to go back! I love the “ships passing in the night“ serendipity

I think people raise their hackles bc they see performance for an unseen audience as somehow less authentic to the medium (but VOID 1680 messes this all up which I love)

5. Mindfulness exercises. Directly fighting thoughts or compulsions isn’t a good strategy, but redirecting attention to your breathing, your environment, your body etc can guide it away from the thought enough that you can make it through

3. Talk about it with someone you trust. Shame gives the thoughts power. Being able to tell someone and having them not freak out helps a lot.
4. Learn about OCD and what’s happening in your brain. It helps me feel less crazy if I understand why.

Yes, but they all suck.
1. You cant resist the thought, this gives it power. You have to let the thoughts wash over you and continue on
2. Fucking exposure therapy (UGH!) — go very slow with a professional leading you or if that’s not an option, take baby steps with a friend to support

omg have you played Toadstools by Bitter Karella? I feel like this is 100% the kind of game we'd make, except with more witchcraft

For pure journaling, I really like Anamnesis, which is a darker game, and I found it really easy to get into as one of the first solo rpgs I played.

But there are games like Exclusion Zone Botanist, where you draw plants, or VOID 1680, where you make a playlist, that have strong elements other than just the writing which can be anchoring if you're not super comfortable with the blank page

Find a shorter one with a theme that really resonates with you! I think, since it's solo, it's important that the *premise* grabs you. I tend to love horror and tragic games (bc I'm a lil freak), but that's not the only kind!
I like Wretched & Alone games, which are great for ppl who like *writing*
