This fall we harvested 80 lbs from our small back yard. Though we don't have to put up preserves out of necessity as our grandparents did, the sustaining joy these gifts from the garden offer through winter with their vibrant taste and colour feels necessary. 2/2

...I thrive on the contrast of indoor comfort vs. wilderness, the refinement of crystal & silk & Beethoven vs. a backpack, gortex & wind-song, the luxury of fresh vegetables, clean sheets & hot water vs. fresh air, a down bag & glacier run off. Yup, we/re packing up for another backpack trip.😀 2/2
