But AUKUS isn’t actually just about the purchase of subs. It’s about purchasing the knowledge to build our own. In that the USA isn’t the main player, it’s Britain we will be developing a new design with. It’s also about purchasing missile designs, so we can build our own

Ask Ukraine if they think they should have spent more or less defense? Have you ever heard the saying walk softly but carry a big stick? what happens if a country disrupts our shipping lanes? How do we respond? No country would supply us subs after Japan & France, we’re stuck with USA and Britain.

We live in a democracy so you can vote for whoever you like. I’ve always voted for the Greens in the senate but will be looking for alternatives this time.
February 20, 2025 at 1:34 AM
The claim was Labor won’t negotiate with the Greens. The Greens don’t negotiate, they demand in the media. It surprises me that you don’t understand that negotiating through the media isn’t how negotiations usually work, at least not negotiations done in good faith.

Greens negotiating tactic. I haven’t seen many independents standing in front of the media stating they’ll only support Gov legislation if they implement a certain policy.

So Corman admitting that low wages was a design of their economic policies on Sky News was another lie by the LNP? Putting in place policies designed to suppress wages didn’t actually suppress wages?
February 18, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Has she said who she would support in a hung parliament? Dutton isn’t the only LNP member to worry about, there aren’t any moderates left in the LNP anymore. The others support his policies.

Have no problem with the Greens trying to improve legislation, that is their job. However they try to get their policies implemented, by making their vote conditional on the Gov implementing Green policies. If they want their policies enacted they need to win enough votes to form Gov.

They did, invested 3 billion in housing immediately, 4 billion in housing for remote communities. It takes time to build housing, there is no quick fix. The future fund is a pipeline of funding so that providers don’t have to stop and start their planning depending on the funding cycle.

The Greens have sidelined themselves. Their negotiating style leaves a lot to be desired, yelling in the media doesn’t make for good negotiated outcomes.

Unfortunately he can. I’m waiting for one journalist to challenge him about their lack of policies and, for the few they’ve released, the lack of costings. Nikki and Laura seem to be the only reporters able and willing to call them out.

There were six - sorry can’t name them as I can’t remember exactly which ones. I couldn’t read the full article as it was paywalled but they weren’t calling for a raise for unemployment, their concern was to reduce the reliance on income tax.

Think about their call to increase the GST which will affect low income earners the most. They represent their wealthy electorates though, who will benefit more from an increase in the GST and the lowering income tax payments.

The report Albanese killed the bill isn’t correct, according to an ABC story. They were one vote short because Senator Payman wouldn’t vote for the bill. There will be further negotiations and they’ll try again next year.

Wow, nothing is improving? Just a few non improvements from the last two years.
