I like using my phone and PC with Google Docs for that. When inspiration adds something to a story I'm working on, I can add it at that moment.
Usually, it is a turn of phrase, or a comment from a character that amuses me.

A lovely station pub is the Wemyss Bay Station Bar. The station is the end of the line, and feeds the ferry to to Rothesay. Long curved platforms and matching roof is quite elegant.
