Writer of historical mystery fiction set in BAKU Azerbaijan.
Key nuggets from the ‘Writing Uncovered’ talks at #Falmouth Poly yesterday: 1) build a family of writers around yourself 2) all writers fear rejection and putting themselves out there - you are not alone! 3) treat criticism as useful feedback 4) treat marketing a book as a business

I read the opening chapters of 'The Baku Inheritance' on the radio yesterday. It was such an exciting experience - I thought I'd be nervous, but I wasn't, surprisingly. Broadcast Friday week during the Short Story Hour on Source FM 96.1. #WritingCommunity

I am getting so many emails from book marketeers that are obviously written by AI. The language is so flowery and gushing - no human would write like that. I suspect the AI program is gathering info from Amazon, reviews, and my website and creating an absurd email #writingcommunity #amwriting

What a good feeling it is to have tied up the loose ends and fixed all the plot holes. Nearly there! #writingcommunity

How many of you do a newsletter? It takes time and effort but I like the engagement with readers. There’s something encouraging about sharing where I am with the next book, chatting about relevant issues and receiving feedback. (Approx 5% reply). Definitely worth doing. #readers #writing-community

Anti-ageing jabs – they can rejuvenate mice, but will they work on humans? Guardian.
I love articles like this - so interesting. Have just finished reading ‘Flowers for Algernon’ so find this kind of research thought provoking.

Would you consider Historical Fiction to be a niche genre? It's frustrating that no bookshops have a historical fiction section. The only attempt was in Waterstones in Truro a while ago where I saw a Past Lives table. #histfic #readers

What do you all think about having character lists in novels? I have just added one to the latest edition of my novel after several requests. Personally I don’t use them, preferring to figure out who’s who as I go along.
