A post from Wellington City Council noting that Quasi, the sculpture of a hand with a face that has lived on top of City Gallery Wellington for five years, is moving on. Full text reads: 👋 Love him or not, Wellington's iconic hand-face sculpture, Quasi, is saying goodbye this week after five unforgettable years on the roof of City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi. Since 2019, Quasi has been like our city guardian, keeping watch over Civic Square and witnessing everything from celebrations and parades to daily life in the city. He's weathered Wellington's wildest storms and sunny days, sparking plenty of conversations among visitors! 🌧️☀️ Originally commissioned by Christchurch Art Gallery, Quasi - created by artist Ronnie van Hout - made a dramatic entrance ir Wellington via helicopter.
