My kid lost a tooth after bedtime routine and put it straight under her pillow. Tooth fairy was a no show. Very unreliable. Good luck!

My oldest is nine and I’ve been looking forward to reading LOTR with her since before she was born. I was thinking she was almost but not quite ready for it. In October, I knew the story was coming for her whether we are ready or not. We are almost halfway through Two Towers.

It’s profoundly sad that they are so scared of the Father, Son and Spirit, and how it twists them to hate themselves and others.

It’s all based on the belief that there’s black and white categories of externally visible sin and righteousness that tell you the state of someone else’s soul. This is my most generous interpretation though not very flattering, but hopefully not so flattening as some speculations.

Their faith and their God are very weak, because listening to NPR or going to church with Democrats could turn you away from the narrow path. It’s humility, I guess in some way. “There but for the grace of God…”

The ones I know and grew up with want to be saved. They’re taught that God is angry and punitive and that the world is dangerous and Christians are easily led astray. My uncle told me I couldn’t raise my then-infant to be a Christian if Clinton had won in 2016. It was a virtual impossibility.
