This reminds me more of Japanese culture and kintsugi. In general the respect for things. I also live in a consumerist society but sometimes see youtube videos of canadians or americans and find the callous buy-buy-buy shocking.

when I was 12 I had this hardass teacher for a DIY subject at school who scared us with a lot of bloody stories but she was the coolest :) unfortunately that didn’t stop one dude with an attention deficit sticking a stanley knife in his leg to see what it would do 😬 (outside of her class)
