Paris has plenty of dramatic sights visible to everyone. But many others are hidden behind high walls or closed doors. Take, for instance, the rue Fortuny.

Hidden Gem: the Street of the Belle Epoque - Anne Swardson
Anyone who thinks Paris is nothing but broad boulevards, cream-colored stone buildings and iron-filigree balconies should visit the rue Fortuny. It’s a small street in the 17th arrondissement, north o...

For anyone in France who thinks things are as bad here as in the U.S.: No they're not, and here's one reason why.

Many thanks to the brave first responders, law enforcement officials and investigators in Minneapolis and I'm proud that these professionals do their work without feeling the need to hide their faces.

Of course I will boycott the Kennedy Center honors telecast, but I'm trying to think of something stronger than boycott. Throw the TV out the window? Put a siren on the car and drive around town so no one else can hear it? Bribe a cable company employee to block the signal? All ideas welcome.

Why is the American news media going along with calling them reciprocal tariffs? They aren’t reciprocal, because Trump is lying about the level of tariffs other countries impose.

Many years ago, I was a correspondent for @washingtonpost.com in Canada, a country I found fascinating, surprising and very much itself. I dredge up some of those memories and a few facts to explain to Donald Trump why he doesn't really want Canada. anneswardson.com/be-careful-w...
