This event was captured by Giotto in 1296-1300 and can found in the Upper Church of the Basilica of St Francis. Photographing the Giotto frescoes wasn't allowed, so here instead is the image taken from 'Assisi: Illustrated Guide', Casa Editrice Francescana Assisi, 2025, p. 73.

Assisi Pilgrimage!
The Cathedral of St Rufino. Its two Franciscan claims to fame are its font where St Francis was baptised and the crypt where he prayed. The latter houses St Rufino's Roman tomb (the first bishop of Assisi, martyred in 238 AD).

One of our first pilgrimages in Assisi had to be to the church of S. Maria Maggiore to visit the shrine of the recently canonised Carlo Acutis. 😇
