The book I mentioned " The Desperate Journey" is really well written and should be on the curriculum in every primary school in Scotland. It is really well written and follows one family's story from Sutherland to Canada.

I am a retired primary school teacher and many years ago I planned a project on the Highland Clearances with my primary 7 class, based on the children's novel "The Desperate Journey" by Kathleen Fidler.
It makes plain Patrick Sellar's part in the atrocities

Thank you George.
The world needs people like you to remind us that kindness and compassion can be use positively to protect our own mental health from the onslaught of evil actions we see and read about every day from so called world leaders.

My unexpected visitor to the feeders on a snowy Saturday in the east outskirts of Glasgow. Ring necked parakeet.

My neighbour took these photos of it from a better angle.

There are 40 or more living wild in the west end of Glasgow and actually breeding in Dawsholm Park. As far as I know, this one might be the first record in the east end. I'm only half a mile from the North Lanarkshire border.

Yes, one of my favourite visitors to the feeders. I'm feel lucky that it now comes regularly.
I wasn't expecting this one though in the east end of Glasgow. Ring necked parakeet.

Thank you! It does indeed bring back lovely memories.
My husband was artist and a lover of nature in all its forms
We both fell in love with Orkney, the landscapes, the skies, the history both ancient and recent and the literature and music.
You have strengthened my
resolve to go back next year.

When I saw the photos I was reminded of Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute
Then I saw in the comments that it is Cardiff Castle, so I'm guessing the connection is the 3rd Marquess of Bute.
