I saw this photo from Dr Emily’s email this morning & immediately thought of A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking @tkingfisher.com & the gingerbread golem army.

Pooka and Norma Rae wish everyone a good night.

I completed, in one day, another journal kit. This one’s from Volcano Arts. It’s covered in denim and I am never doing that again, the thick fabric is a pain to work with. But it’s done and it’s already found a home - Paul asked me for it.

I actually got my faerie wand earring concept to work. In two colorways, even. The worst part was wrapping the 24 gauge brass wire around the 18 gauge sterling; I finally had the sense to check my wireworking book. Hold the piece with a bit of rubbery shelf liner, duh.

The Internet was created to share cat photos. Happy Caturday!

Two more finished boxes. I have one more box kit, but it’s more complicated. I think I’ll do some more bookbinding next, after I get more Lineco glue. Or maybe the fleece throw kits I got when Joann went out of business. Or perhaps the fairy wand earrings I’ve been thinking about. Too many ideas.

I finished both of the boxes-with-lids. They’re not perfect, but they’re done and I’m pretty happy with them. The black box is resting on a Japanese fabric paperweight. See alt text for more details. The one with linen bookcloth came with lilac, which was so dull I had to change it.

I was planning to cut bookcloth this afternoon, but Norma Rae and Pooka had other ideas.

I finished the 2024 Japanese stab-bound journal project. I’m keeping the blue tiger-pattern one top left, the rest will be gifted.

Post you from a different era. Paul and me at our wedding reception in my parents’ backyard, October 1983.

I hung my finished Afghan dress from the clothesline so I could get a picture in daylight. @mishellbaker.bsky.social here it is.

Here it all is, my Good Omens box of treasures. Behold My Stuff. The art in the novel is especially gorgeous. @colleendoran.bsky.social

Apologies for the bad photos, I had to clear a project off my work table for a big enough flat space.

Today is Norma Rae’s Sixth Birthday!

I know. Here are Pooka and Norma Rae, sending you purrs and snuggles.

I did it. I machine-sewed two rows of satin ribbon on the sleeves. I haven’t machine-sewed ribbon in more years than I can remember, and it worked first time and doesn’t even look too bad. That is my crowning achievement for today. No more sewing machine, hand-sewing only the rest of the day.

Nice sunset this evening.

The Folkwear Afghan dress in these batiks. I had to size the bodice up, but the rest should be pretty straightforward sewing.

I put together a festive holiday wreath for the front door. Details in alt text.

I’ve cut out all the pieces for my Afghan Dress. These are the batiks I’m using. I haven’t decided on trims; I’m not sure it’ll need anything except perhaps a ribbon on the cuffs to go with the binding at the neck opening. I think it’ll work. I’ll be the most colorful Willendorf goddess, anyway.

Dr Emily rescued this peacock butterfly from her apartment stairwell. She said it was hissing and making cricket noises at her. Butterflies vocalize to scare away predators. I did not know that.

I’ve had this pendant & earring of my mom’s for years. I know she got them at the So Cal Ren Faire maybe 50 years ago & I believe they’re by Bindu. At some point, she lost the earring’s mate. I’ve been pondering replacement designs for a while, finally got a likely idea & put it together today.

My pomegranate fairy necklace, shortened, restrung, and with a larger clasp that almost balances the weight of the solid ounce of pewter that is the pendant.
