Well, a certain ticket ballot email led to a lot of panic and screaming until this confirmation message came through. I didn’t know there was another ballot happening. Also, I’m now faintly terrified. #immersivetheatre #youmebumbumtrain

2/2…sewing fair and got a sample case from a needle maker - and kept the parking ticket. She didn’t like self threading needles. She mended her nylons and darned her family’s socks. She sewed buttons on uniforms and name tapes into clothes. She was still sewing into this century.

Bought a vintage sewing box in a secondhand shop in Bristol to use as a coffee table. Got it home and realised nothing had been taken out. Unpacking it was like being told a story about its owner. Her grandchildren were born in the 1960s and she taught one of them to knit. She went to a…1/2

For the second year, the ongoing belief of the small children of Bath lies with Boy 1 who is second string Santa at the local gym’s Somersaulting Santa sessions. This was last year. He is about 6 inches taller this year and there’s doubt that the suit will fit. Our hopes go with you, Thomas.

Thundercloud in the B&Q Valspar range. I’m rather pleased with it!

And on the 9854th day, lo and there were built in bookcases. And the woman did consider a toddler tantrum because her bookcase lights had not turned up and the project could not, therefore, be deemed finished. Also, there was paint on the walls.

And on the 7th day, the foolish woman did discover that the ceiling was cursed with sag. And she did weep. But the gods of DIY smiled upon her and said 'Be not desolate, for there existeth the miracle of little bits of moulding. And caulk.' And on the 8th day, the caulk did not sleep in her hand...

And the sun did go down on the sixth day and the foolish woman began to consider the possibility that maybe, just maybe, it might one day rise upon built in bookcases. And she was joyous. And tired. And bruised. With superglue on her fingers. Lo. Behold. Etc.

Boy 3 has settled in with @bigjet.tv at Heathrow. The excitement of a second attempt.

Lo, and the foolish woman did say ‘let there be built in bookcases.’ And on the third day built in bookcases there were not. Because this was the land that spirit levels forgot, where straight floors and walls were known only in half-remembered tales. And the woman did despair.

Well, that could have been a lot worse. The roof went a bit saggy, but otherwise pretty solid!

Us, at 7.30 this morning after he uttered the words ‘I’m going to need a bigger cake.’ Apparently, there are more bits to a tractor than he originally thought. Good job the party isn’t till 3. Off to Tescos we go…

My 15 year old is convinced he can make his 3 yr-old cousin’s Tractor Ted cake three-dimension. He even invoked the memory of my notorious Death Star cake.
Him: Remember the Death Star cake?
Me: Yes, it was shit.
Him: But three-dimensional and shit.
The party is tomorrow. *chews knuckles*

Just tried on a slouchy sweatshirt I ordered online. I look like a sack with limbs and a head. Having reviewed the picture on the website, I'm not sure how I expected anything different. I think I was seduced by the potential usefulness of the colour and failed to notice its sackness.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten loads! Does anyone have this book by the way?I bought for my partner for Christmas and it is pure nostalgia. It’s basically the non fiction version of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow.

The came the Oculus Quest and my new obsession to be in the global top 20 on In Death Unchained. Middle aged mum taking on all the streaming bros. Achieved this lofty goal last week - then promptly died and had to start again. Also, my kids admitted I am ‘banging’ at Beat Saber.

First PlayStation: the PS2. We were obsessed with SSX Tricky. If you didn’t have over a million by the end of the first jump, you cancelled and started again. Also Micromachines and Gran Turismo. I taught my 80 year old gran to play GT2 or 3. Funniest. Thing. Ever.

First Gameboy: the original one, but some years after it came out. My school friend had one early on and we had a sign up sheet to play Super Mario Bros. When I had my own, it was all about Tetris and Pokémon. Got to catch ‘em all, after all.

First online game: The Two Towers MUD. Some other graduate students and I discovered it and spent many happy hours typing ‘move north move north move north.’ I still have the map I made for it somewhere.
