The view from mum’s gate is ever changing. The daily question is whether you can see the Ochills!

For #wildflowerhour #wildfungihour a birch bolete found under the birch trees in my mum’s garden in Scotland. We’ve just got back after almost 2 weeks, with a variety of weather, the day I took this it was sunny, Scotland at its best!

For #wildflowerhour - chicory, ox eye daisy & red campion all along the field margins in Perthshire (should they even be flowering at the end of Oct) - but a welcome splash of colour

For #WildFlowerHour #fruits, it's that time of year for #hips #haws #sloes and #blackberries all signs of Autumn, although it is still summer (just, for a few more hours, although autumn weather has arrived in NE Hants🌦️). Another interesting fact is that they are all members of the Rosaceae family.

I love old buttons, the feel, the shape and the way they sit (sometimes slightly dished)... I've made a few of these, and frame them (as presents, this will be a wedding present). They are mostly about the size of a pencil. I didn't take a picture of the finished item.
August 19, 2025 at 9:14 AM
For #wildflowerhour #daisychallenge from the asteraceae family ragwort - Senecio Jacobaea & yarrow Achillea millefolium (sorry none of the leaves were in the pic)
August 17, 2025 at 6:14 PM
The original pic was autumn flowering marsh gentian, but these 👇 were taken in Austria in May (up a mountain, we’d gone by funicular railway), these were even bluer 💙 and the flowers less goblet shape and more open - spring gentian

For #wildFlowerHour #polinatorPals watching a bee in the marsh gentian - Gentiana pneumonanthe in NE Hampshire
August 10, 2025 at 8:01 PM
For #wildFlowerHour walking across our local heathlands, when the sun shines (ok not seen too much sun this week), there are so many vivid blue marsh gentian - gentian pneumonanthe. At this time of year, I go the long way over the heath to the local shops, such a joy to see the blue flowers!
August 3, 2025 at 6:22 PM
For #wildFlowerHour, it’s going to be a good year for Sloes, the blackthorn are full of fruit in the hedgerow
August 3, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Marsh gentian Gentiana pneumonanthe in north east Hampshire, such a vivid blue, is it almost the end of summer?

The last 4 pics of Bentley Berner bear, we went to Scotland & he never made it home. He was a good boy (well bonkers until the last year, then good, he’d just turned 5). Earlier that day we stopped at Gretna, he made loads of new friends, & went down hill very fast 💔🐾🌈 #BMD #bernesemountaindog
