Can't differentiate between O and 0? Good luck trying to prove your humanity. (This is an actual captcha I was just served up).

Seems as good a time as any to reshare this video from my (terrifying) ride in a Cruise robotaxi last year with @kellypendergrast.bsky.social

This is how big you can send standard mail in NZ with a $4.90 stamp (A4 paper for scale) and it can be 1kg, and 2cm high. From what I can tell, materials other than paper are allowed. There’s a lot of stuff I thought I had to send as a parcel that I reckon could just go in the postbox.

Just posted about 50 bits of mail and now I’m back home writing a submission on proposals to reduce NZPost’s minimum service requirements. I sense a theme for today.

As a New Zealander with an inexplicable non-NZ accent this advice for Christmas party small talk is my worst nightmare. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

Woke up to a kārearea (NZ falcon) in my backyard with a dead pigeon - it just sat there for a bit before flying off

I went to the factory they’re made in the other week (in Palmy) and they had this poster of what (I can only assume) was the original packaging/branding.

You’re welcome! This morning I have dug out the very niche manuals that are in my household (synthesiser user guides) and have been quizzing my husband about how knowledge of their use and repair circulates… a real (enjoyable) rabbit hole!

I found this piece quite reassuring - especially the interview with artists at the end. Not to say we shouldn't be worried - but there is precedent to an extent with thinking about images and their complex relationship to the truth. www.nytimes.com/2023/12/26/o...

I think I need to log off for the day — I just read this as "Billie Eilish on the "twists and turns" of the Treaty relationship".

Reduced to Clear is the only retail store I welcome weekly email updates from - unfortunately I don’t have room in my freezer for 16 Trumpets at this time…

Apple Music’s algorithm almost had me thinking I had misheard/misremembered this lyric for decades.

I got my hopes up when I saw this card at the op shop in the section with $5 vinyl EPs, but alas, none of these records were to be found.

Revisiting some of @kellypendergrast.bsky.social and my previous writing, and thinking about this image by Huriana Kopeke-Te Aho, the first artwork we've ever had commissioned to go with an essay published last year. It was such a privilege to have an image like this to go with our words.
