However, the group of researchers are keen to ensure that their findings are not used to stigmatise people with any of the conditions indicated in Hitler’s DNA. “Behaviour is never 100 per cent genetic,” said psychologist Professor Sir Simon Baron-Cohen. “Associating Hitler’s extreme cruelty with people with these diagnoses risks stigmatising them, especially when the vast majority of people with these diagnoses are neither violent nor cruel, and many are the opposite.”

Children’s health defense just sent out an email that Cheryl Hines, RFK’s wife, is speaking at their upcoming anti-vax conference. She kept herself pretty carefully separated from this stuff for years but I guess not anymore. Dave Weldon will also appear, whose CDC nom was withdrawn in March

DHS did not respond to a follow-up email about what “F-word” they are referring to here, but if it’s the word “fuck,” 67 seems like a drastic undercount. I did not, however, count for myself the number of times I have tweeted the word “fuck” or any of its related words or phrases and so cannot vouch for the agency’s math.

Attempts to sanitize and popularize state violence through mass media and popular culture go back far further than the edgelords manning the Twitter controls at ICE, of course. During the Holocaust, cartoons envisioning Jews as rats were meant to provoke loathing and disgust, linking them with disease and contagion—something to be cast out of the body of society. Supporters of Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippines’ past president, helped popularized his brutal and deadly drug war through what Buzzfeed News called “a never-ending meme-driven propaganda campaign.” Researchers at the University of Notre Dame found that Russian milbloggers—ultranationalist and often explicitly pro-war accounts—hugely increased the number of propagandistic, and often manipulated, images they were posting on Telegram in the two weeks leading up to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

My interest in Maxwell began with a hunch: that the story we were given didn’t quite add up. I never set out to prove she was innocent—only that her vilification served a larger purpose, and that her role in this scandal wasn’t unlike that of many other women who came after her, who worked as co-conspirators and escaped legal repercussions under Epstein’s NPA. I uncovered proof of a woman shaped by early psychological trauma, who replicated familiar power dynamics with both her father and her lover, and ultimately became a pawn in a much larger game. And while Maxwell herself—due to hindering pride—has refused to admit it, I saw her also as a victim of Epstein’s manipulation. As a result, we were handed a villain that powerful men needed as a distraction—and it worked.
