well yes

it’s not totally bad. but it is designed to be very addictive, social media addiction is real & harmful, especially when a lot of the content on there (again, not all of it) is quite harmful for young minds. it has helped millions of people, & it’s also hurt millions of people.

when billionaire media ceos are so deeply in the pockets of our legislators, our data becomes valuable currency. i heard someone say it’s “the new oil”.

national security my ass, those ceos are hungry to profit off of even more of our personal information than they already do.

see i’m not that upset that tiktok is getting banned because i generally don’t think that tiktok it’s good for people, but i am upset about WHY it’s getting banned.

to echo already well-echoed sentiments: if something is free, you’re the product.
