Q5. I'm imagining a buddy system with all this. Both to support each other in communication and also to help assure content is appropriate and gets reported if not. Assessment could then be some partner grading and self-grading.

Q5 on #HoningOurCraft chapter 6

The perennial question: If and How to assess???

Henshaw & Hetrovicz suggest grading a summative report that includes quotes from student conversations and reflections.

How would YOU grade a #VirtualExchange, and why?

Q4. I like this question! I'm even thinking now that having structured q's like this would be great for interviewing our exchange students (in Eng). Give me all the ideas for these questions! Like maybe What time is dinner at your house?
Q4 #HoningOurCraft ch 6

Henshaw & Hetrovicz remind us to avoid stereotypes by prompting students to ask their virtual exchange partners questions they can answer from personal perspectives.

What is a good question you have used? or
What's a Q you would like to ask in a #VirtualExchange?

Q2. Things get harder to control when you bring in other humans! That can be great and inspiring in communication. But also a bit scary when I am ultimately the one responsible for what goes on and the learning that gets done in my classroom.

Q1. I have not, but a quick internet search about it has me intrigued. I used to do penpals, but have not recently. Many of my students use apps like HelloTalk to connect with native speakers
Q1 on #HoningOurCraft chapter 6.

Do you use #VirtualExchanges with your students?
If so, what kind?
If your answer is "not yet," what kind would you like to try?
