Sailors once swore their calls were trolls or witches, cackling in the dark. 8/10 HORRIFYING noise, dumpling-like appearance.

A Nightjar lying camouflaged against moss and leaf litter, huge dark eyes and mottled feathers blending with its surroundings. Nocturnal. Once said to suck milk from goats, leaving herds cursed. (This is slander). Their unearthly, churring call was whispered to steal lost souls away… 6/10 Eats moths (not souls). Misunderstood little weirdos.

There’s already consensus: we must transition to nature-friendly farming.

HM Treasury must, at very least, commit to maintaining the current agricultural budget, or risk sleepwalking into disaster - dragging farmers, food & wildlife down with it.
