I do enjoy a quick read - finished this one in less than 24 hours. A quirky little why-dunnit which was a tad predictable but ultimately satisfying.

What a beautiful book, really interesting to get a glance into a religion a lot of people seem to think is a bit of a joke but has such terrible impact on the people affected. Looking forward to our book club discussion on this one.

I enjoyed this one but wasn’t my favourite SAC I’ve read. Some of the dialogue and action were a bit far fetched but overall it was a fun read.

I spent this whole book waiting for a real gut punch that just never came. Also why were the letters not even introduced until like page 240?!

0 plot stream of consciousness. Some interesting ideas are explored but I couldn’t help feeling a bit flat by the end when nothing had really happened.

This was not as good as Iron Widow. Pacing was off and felt a little preachy at times. I still had a good time - maybe expectations were too high after the long wait for release 🥲

Attempted to start Heavenly Tyrants, immediately had no clue what the fuck was going on. Had to admit defeat and give this a quick reread first 😂

Is this a literary masterpiece? No. Did I have a good time? Absolutely.

Enjoyed this a lot more than The Appeal 👀

I love a bit of mixed media and always fly through this format. My second Janice Hallett book and enjoying so far - definitely higher stakes than The Appeal 😂

Beautifully written, I was totally gripped. Considering it was a debut this is pretty amazing but I’m just not sure if maybe it was a little bit TOO clever?

I picked this for our book club read for January - had no idea it wasn’t actually published in the UK 😂

I’ve just finished part one and I’m really enjoying it so far but I have no idea wtf is going on 🙈

Such a gorgeous edition of 1984, I had to dive into this first from my new stack 🥰

Want to read more physical books in 2025 and be less reliant on Mr Bezos’ empire.

Here’s my little haul from my hometown independent bookseller today 🙏🏻

My partner made me buy 1984 because he was appalled I hadn’t read it yet 🙈

Last month’s book club read on its way to a new home via my local little free library 🙏🏻

Have to admit I only read two chapters of this but hopefully it will find a home with someone who will appreciate it 🥰

Love the character of Mickey and his relationship with Speaker reminded me a little of Project Hail Mary - but overall I had less fun with this than the first book.

Without silly deaths and resurrections the premise is a bit lost IMO 💀

I put off reading this after Long Way and I have no idea why because I ADORED this book. Much better than book one IMO, and I absolutely sobbed at the end (ifykyk) 😭

Finally finished this (one of the slump causers) and I’m sad to say I didn’t enjoy it all that much.

Maybe because I listened on audio, or my expectations were too high but it just felt repetitive and a bit obvious. 🤷🏻‍♀️
