I come from a family of candle-lighters. In times of challenge, heartbreak, difficulty, we light a candle. I have been lighting candles a lot lately.

As the last few hours of 2024 trickle away, I light this candle for all of us. 🙏🏽❤️‍🩹💞

If you’re in Birmingham (UK) and you fancy a great selection of real and craft ales, check out The Wellington in Bennet’s Hill. This is Froth Blowers Brewery’s Piffle Snonker. At 3.8%, it’s about my speed. And, I might add, mighty tasty.

I don’t think I’ve seen snow in the UK in November before. I’m not sure the flowers (cosmos?) liked it.

As I listen to the rain hammer down on the conservatory roof on this dark late-autumn afternoon, I dream of brighter, warmer and (slightly) more beer-addled times. Looking forward to more camping and festivals next year!
