It's very enlightening and tons of fun. Sometimes I live in my own place and sometimes in a hostel when I want company or prices are too high where I am (like London, Milan, etc). Looking for my forever place as I go.

It's current political situation is one of the many reasons I sold all my "stuff" as George Carlin calls it and am traveling the world. No regrets.
