A Fine Balance - Rohinton Mistry

Heart wrenching, soul shattering , will leave you curled up on the floor questioning the unfairness of life. A monster of a book and very very heavy to get through but brilliantly written.

Let me know what your underrated book recs are! 📚💙

The Girl With All The Gifts - M R Carey

(yes I accidentally misspelled thrillers in the last post)

Both psychologically haunting and heart wrenching at the same time , this is one of the most unique takes on a dystopian future I’ve read. Stayed with me long after I was done.

An Anonymous Girl - Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

I would read anything by this duo but this is a particular favourite because it leaves you hooked till the end. Psychological thriller’s are really my jam these days

Stone Blind by @nataliehaynes.bsky.social

A stark reminder of the fact that the women we villanise are usually not the villains and possibly the best retelling of Medusa’s story I’ve ever come across. A must read for anyone looking for a fresh perspective

The Prisoner by Omar Shahid Hamid

Honestly anything by Omar Shahid Hamid is great but this this one of his first books that I read and it was just such a different take on Karachi compared to what we usually get in desi books. Also I’m a huge fan of crime fiction

Babel by @rfkuang.bsky.social

Not that this isn’t popular but I see yellowface getting a lot more hype (and well deserved) but this is just a work of art. The language history, the colonial commentary, the absolutely insanely developed character arcs. I could read a whole series of this

The Will Of The Many - James Islington

This was one of those books that ended up surprising me halfway through and left enough of a cliffhanger to leave me very excited for the next one. Great for sci-fi fans who like your typical hero arc

The City of Brass - S A Chakraborty

Islamic fantasy peaks here. Djinns, and magical carpets and fantasy creatures, everything you want in a magical book. Topped with a healthy underlying commentary on minority issues and political strife. The whole trilogy will keep you hooked

The Khan by @saimamir.bsky.social - an absolute 10/10 crime thriller that does a spectacular job of representing Muslim women.
