And on a final note... I'm sorry this has to be deliberate. You cannot tell me the devs chose this number by accident. You cannot tell me they don't know the joke. It's too obvious! Call me immature all you like but I refuse to believe this wasn't done on purpose!

But honestly? I don't mind if it never becomes scary because I had so much fun playing this. The combination of the horror elements and the silly moments, mixed with simple but fun gameplay, made this quite enjoyable. So yeah, definitely check out the demo and I can't wait for the full release.

I'm not sure if I can call the game scary. The atmosphere can be uncomfortable, unexpectedly so, and when it gets weird and surreal it can get creepy. Add to that the dark story and there's a lot of potential, I'm eager to see where the game goes in the full release.

Also small thing but while exploring I noticed Yumi suddenly turning black in certain areas. I mean like completely black, her model was just a shadow. It took a bit of time to realise that this was showing when she was going through a dark or shadowy area, and frankly the effect is unsettling.

There's a very quiet atmosphere while walking around the town. It's foggy (like a certain other foggy town) but the low-poly style makes it look less like typical fog and more like the setting barely exists. The very small draw distance can turn backgrounds into stark white shapes.

I like Yumi already. Her comments are quite funny and she does not care about the weird stuff going on. Like I said her combat is with her fists, not weapons. Honestly she's one of the reasons for the tonal whiplash, but I love that the developers were willing to have fun with her personality.

One thing that I liked was how the backstories were actually interactive. Not to an insane degree, it was basically walking simulator segments, but just having the player be able to live these sections rather than have them exclusively cutscenes is a nice touch, especially when things get surreal.

The story already has my interest. Yes it jumps a bit suddenly into backstories that gets dark very quickly (there's a content warning for a reason), but there's still some decent emotion behind it and quite a few little subtle moments. There can be some tonal whiplash but it kind of works.

Ok in all seriousness... I bloody loved playing this demo. It's a simple little survival horror with an anime vibe (both in art-style and tone), where our main character Yumi comes to a foggy town full of lifelike dolls and starts to uncover the story behind what happened here.

Turned on my computer and this was the date showing so... greetings from the future!

Things aren't too bad. You can all look forward to poached ice cream, Saw XXXVII and the official annexation of Finland into the Insect Empire.

So after umming and ahhing over pre-ordering Silent Hill F I still haven't finished my first run 🤣

Part of that is because I had a holiday to go on and part of it is a frustrating cough that will not leave (currently waiting on X ray results).

But how is the game so far?

AMAZING!

I got it

Started looking through some old files on my computer and came across a folder of stuff I used to post on deviantart.

Not ready to share my full cringe history yet, but here's one thing I made that was hilarious to me at the time (and honestly still makes me giggle... my sense of humour is weird).

Final note, for anyone thinking this cave looks too dark and gloomy?

Don't worry.

They've got plants.

I don't think I saw everything. I don't know if I have the nerve to see everything (or if it's even possible) but this is definitely an amazing horror game. You guys really should check it out, see what you think and give the dev some support (it's their first game and it's this awesome!)

It's nowhere near the 4th wall breaking levels of something like imscared or The Stanley Parable, but it was enough to get under my skin as well as increasing the tension throughout. I may be the only person to get so excited about this aspect but I felt it really added a lot.
August 22, 2025 at 4:23 PM
But I played it again, mostly because an aspect which is both my favourite and least favourite aspect of this game: THE GAME TAUNTS YOU! The way everything from the initial objective and controls are worded to the endings themselves makes me feel like some omnipotent being is toying with me.

It's all the little moments like that which really add to the dread of going through this cave. My first playthrough I really didn't want to go any deeper. The moment I had fifty pieces of rubbish I was immediately heading to the exit.

I say immediately but I got lost which made things worse.

Also side note, when I found this painting my torch died.

And I was alone.

In the dark.

With cracking noises.

For a few minutes.

Yet somehow I was not dead.

I still question how I was not dead, and the fact that I was not made continuing on VERY tense. I was absolutely dreading what came next.

Environmental storytelling comes from a combination of notes and items. What I love about this compared to other horror games is the wide range of perspectives we're getting. It really feels like a whole community was down here, and while some of them are indeed sinister... others are relatable.
August 22, 2025 at 4:23 PM
The atmosphere going through this cave is uncomfortable straight from the beginning, and a lot of that comes from how quiet it is. Even your own footsteps don't really make much sound, it's really emphasizes how alone you area.

Until there suddenly is noise and it's clear you aren't actually alone.
August 22, 2025 at 4:23 PM
I decided to give this a go because I've already got a think about cleaning and task based horror game, and right off the bat it's interesting that cleaning everything is not the objective. You have to get a certain amount before you can leave, but you're not expected to get everything.
August 22, 2025 at 4:23 PM
On a final note... there are slides here too.

...

And yes the moment I found one I could enter I kept going down it over and over again.

These criticisms aren't enough to take away from how beautiful this game is and how much fun it was to explore, I really enjoyed this demo and I do encourage you to try it. I could swim in these waters for hours and I am thoroughly excited to see what the full game has to offer.
July 20, 2025 at 9:40 PM
Also THIS RIGHT HERE? THIS IS A TEASE! I was enraptured seeing that big beautiful ocean but I didn't really think I'd be allowed into it. So why would you deliberately have an open section of wall that would normally indicate this is an accessible area... THEN PUT AN INVISIBLE BARRIER HERE?!
