Australian elections:
* Conservative were leading in polls before Trump came into the picture
* Tory leader couldn’t disassociate himself from Trump and lost his own seat
* Progresish party rode the anti Trump wave and won comfortably
* Green seats shrank

This is oddly familiar…

At my previous employer, a female colleague didn't receive annual stock top-ups while my male colleagues did. So glad she asked!

Salary discussions bring up vulnerability, which fuels the taboo. But that secrecy always benefit the status quo in our capitalist culture.

It was one of those “wait, Clickhouse didn’t do that already!!??” moments. Excited for the next release nonetheless
🏎️ What’s better than a fast database? A lazy one.
ClickHouse’s new lazy materialization feature delays work until it’s absolutely needed, slashing runtimes by over 1,200×.
Curious yet? Read the deep dive here → buff.ly/9CiK99o

PSA for West Coast voters: Liberals are doing well, so if you're torn between them and NDP/Green, consider waiting until 7pm on Monday. By then, the East would have voted, and you’ll have a better idea of whether your vote could make a bigger difference or risk splitting the progressive-ish vote
Yeah, I know voting Green isn’t the “strategic” choice to stop the Poilievre. But @legreenlaw.bsky.social is the only candidate in my riding who actually gives a damn about climate justice, Palestine, and social change.

It’s fucked up rn but don’t let fear dictate your vote. Vote with your heart!

This was very cute and refreshing read. Anything that fosters intergenerational connections within a community is so valuable these days.

Though, sucks that there doesn’t seem to be any woman card.

Turns out, Trump might not have pulled those random-looking trade tariff rates out of a hat.

He (or the AI chatbot he used) just divided the U.S. trade deficit by imports.

Might be the most expensive chat session yet?

Not sure how real this story is, but vibeconomics is here everybody 🤙
Trump’s new tariff math looks a lot like ChatGPT’s
ChatGPT may be the White House’s latest economic advisor.

Go Cory! Here's a handy timer on how long Senator has been speaking for. Can't believe it's been almost 23 hours already, and he's still looking strong!

If you are using Clickhouse as your cache, you can now cache your cache! 😱

Well not a real cache, but might save you some compute cost with minimal memory overhead if most of your queries are the same. As their docs suggest, ideal for observability workloads.
Never scan the same data twice! ClickHouse's new Query Condition Cache quietly supercharges performance for repeated queries—perfect for dashboards and observability.

100MB of cache covers up to 6.8T rows, enhancing efficiency without extra tuning.

A friend found Martyr by Kaveh Akbar at an airport bookstore. It was a placeholder filling the spot for the 2nd bestseller because the actual one was out of stock.

He bought it just coz other bestsellers looked meh. Weeks later, it became a real bestseller.

I’m half way through and it’s so good!

xAI’s Grok is probably the flakiest app I’ve used in a while. It took me 10 tries to signup, it logs me out every few minutes, I have to login every time I open the app, image generator never works.

I hope it means X’s developers are intentionally building bad software to annoy Elon.

Western dating timeline (aka date sandwich):
You start with a “date”, then you move into this mysterious “seeing” phase, and eventually you officially start “dating.”

“Seeing” phase is like the trial period of your subscription, except you don’t know when it ends.

Have you tried Speed Sighting??

Kululu is such a gem! A very underrated cafe to work at- nice quiet atmosphere, great staff, and the best noodles in Squamish!?

💯 This is super prevalent within AI critics. “Algorithmic Bias” rather than "Structural Discrimination", or “Data Privacy Issues” instead of "Surveillance Capitalism". Neutral sound-bites work for the masses I guess. But language isn’t neutral, especially not these colonial ones
There are certain types of tech critics who avoid any mention of racism, sexism, colonialism, genocide & eugenics. If they do it is to attack those of us who expose these threads.

Watch out for those discussing "polarization" rather than "white supremacy"

Or "racial tensions" rather than racism 🙄

Hopefully, with snap elections announced, Poilievre’s ads will finally chill. I swear, as someone who’d never vote for him, I’ve seen way too many. Wonder how much they’re spending on social media ads! I hit rock bottom when I heard them on Spotify—while listening to a socialist podcast!
