Queen Tiye of the 18th dynasty of Egypt. Great Royal Wife of Amenhotep the 3rd and mother of the most hated pharaoh in Egypt, Ahkenaten and grandmother to the most famous pharaoh in modern times, King Tutankhamen. She was a powerful queen in her royal court, holding great influence. Known for her skill in foreign affairs, her sphere of power extended beyond Egypt’s borders into Mitanni and Babylon. In this photo, Queen Tiye’s mummy is lying in repose while on display at the Cairo Museum.
