i love how the rhythm of the pattern and the symmetry changes at some point; it feels alive and vibrant while still maintining the logic and clarity of the graphical design.

he allowed me to use his pattern and also chimed in on the choice of thread colours and helped me with some questions i had about about a few details in the pattern, so i really see this as a collaboration between the two of us.

the pattern was designed by claire's @thread.yarn.paper son, who is 9 years old and creates the most beautiful patterns, some of which are pixelated and thus very tempting to be worked in cross stitch.

thank you!

the pattern has a lovely rhythm and makes the stitching very smooth and relaxing.

oh, thank you so much!
actually i was thinking about doing a „i‘m just here so i won‘t get fined“ version for myself. very tempting!

never would i ever have thought i'd get commissioned to stitch something that involves american football, the nfl and of all things, marshawn lynch, and one of my first loves, cross stitch. but here we go!
January 22, 2025 at 7:59 PM
the other thing he was and is still famous for is his love for skittles, often eating skittles on the sideline during games.

so, of course i said yes to the commission, and it was very clear to me that the flowers needed to resemble skittles and be stitches in skittles colours.

which to me, as a longtime nfl fan, could only mean one thing - we were talking about embroidering a quote by marshawn lynch, also known as beast mode, former nfl running back, whom i so enjoyed watching on and off the field.
on the field he was fierce, and off the field known for his interviews.

it was commissioned as a brthday gift and now that the birthday kid received it i can post without spoiling the surprise.
this one was so much fun to make. the brief was something like "a quote cross stitched in cursive, by a guy named m. lynch, in oakland californian slang, with grandma flowers."
