My all time favourite celebrity story is Voltaire being annoyed by Jean Huber's paintings depicting the famous philosopher and writer in (sometimes a bit undignified) everyday situations, like getting up in the morning and clumsily pulling on his pants.

Btw, the book is RITES OF PEACES by Adam Zamoyski. A very informative, also a highly entertaining book, with lots of small stories within the big story, something I, always, instinctively imagining possible dramatized scenes of historical moments while reading about them, really enjoy.
