I love how positive you are about the start of term and new beginnings. It’s really inspiring and it’s what I need. I sorted my room out at the start of term. Today (and the rest of the week), will be the other stuff. Have a great start to the new year!

Oh goodness! Yes! I love Greek myths so have read a lot of the retellings from the female perspective. Circe was my favourite. I like Lisa Jewell. None of this is true was great. The Family Upstairs was interesting. Strange Sally Diamond was great. My friend introduced me to the ACOTAR series.

Simon, I love your book recommendations and often purchase books purely because you’ve shared that they are good. I wonder if you can help? Do you know of any books that are similar to Thornhill? Every class that I’ve read it to have absolutely loved it. I just wondered what else was similar. Thanks

I love audiobooks. Listen to them a lot for adult fiction. Loved listening to When the Sky Falls which was narrated by Phil Earle himself. That was wonderful

As a teacher I’m finding that children are enjoying more ‘spine tingly’ reads such as Thornhill, Dread Wood or House of Shells. Thornhill and House of Shells have an underlying ghost story but a protagonist who is bullied in ways that many of them can relate to.

I feel this! Makes no sense at all. Especially since it’s 3 weeks and 4 days because of bank holiday Monday 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes! And constantly being mocked for his use of vocabulary. I know his dancing is incredible. But for me, it’s the pain and conflict in his eyes - what he doesn’t say, what he holds back. Just brilliant.
