Two trips to Cambridge in one week!
First CrossSense was showcased at @cambridgefestival.bsky.social, where people from all walks of life tested our prototype. Grateful to @braininjuryhrc.bsky.social for inviting us—speaking with members of the public reminded us why we started this journey! #PPIE

Interesting day at a conference on ‘Resilience’ organised by Cambridge Wireless. The closing talk was by an ‘ethical hacker’ showing how insecure most of our everyday products are. Scary and fascinating!

Friends, for something to be open source, we need to see

1. The data it was trained & evaluated on

2. The code

3. Model architecture

4. Model weights.

DeepSeek only gives 3, 4. And I'll see the day that anyone gives us #1 without being forced to do so, because all of them are stealing data.

Each time you see a targeted ad, your personal data has just been exposed to thousands of advertisers & data brokers through a process called "real-time bidding" (RTB).

This lets data brokers harvest & monetize your online activity, which fuels government surveillance. 🧵(1/11)
