I can’t even tell you how excited I am to be able to share the cover of my debut novel. It’s been my lifelong dream to write the kind of book I love to read. There’s a journey, some introspection, and a love story

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut science research and education the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

Remember when "chick lit" was a bad word? I loved it then and I am still a fan of well-written women's fiction with happy endings and a bit of romance. No shame.

Before I was a writer, I was a librarian. Public and academic. Reference, instruction, storytime, web dev. I selected books, weeded books, and barcoded books. I processed magazines and helped seniors learn to use a mouse. I used dewey & LC and ran social media.

I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

If you look closely, you can see that this bald eagle perched above my house has a rabbit dangling from its talons. What is this a metaphor for?

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

Good tips here. All of them. Only thing I'd add is also to PRE-order their books
(Mine is at www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Ma...)
Help the authors you love:

- Buy their books

- Review their books

- Order their books at your local library

-Attack people on public transport with a copy of their book so the cover gets featured on the news

- Follow their social media

- Share their posts

I wrote about #libraries and #books and #art this week. And as a former librarian, I had to write a book rec list.
What is a book you'd recommend for living in these times?

ONE parent. And in Florida, ONE man is responsible for 40% of all book challenges in the state. The book banners are a tiny minority. Make that clear by speaking up in favor of the freedom to read. (Email your school board!)
Thanks to @aclusc.bsky.social and @authorsabb.bsky.social working in SC to fight bans. The challenges have been brought by 1 parent who earlier filed 97 challenges in Beaufort County, nearly all of them denied. She's re-challenging now that a state law passed in July 2024 makes banning easy.
