Your best tool is probably active reading. Define your purpose before reading, then skim and scan to find only what’s for your current focus.

Ask yourself: what am I reading *for*? Articulate your purpose e.g. to scope the field? understand the methodology? process ideas? It will help you sift what's important and make better notes.

Don't bethat person who says 'this is not a question - it's more of a comment'. Ask real questions of panel members; address a question to a panel member who has not spoken much; be kind and curious about others' work.
