Fresh corn salad: cut off three or four cobs worth, slice a cup or so of grape tomatoes, two or three baby cucumbers, chives or shallots minced into oblivion, two lemons worth of juice and a big glug of olive oil to season I like Tajin and lemon pepper. Add grated or crumbled cheese to taste.

These are the days for no-cook meals. Tonight it’s charcuterie and watermelon salad. Fresh mint but I subbed cotija for the feta cheese.

If you ever wanted to know how long it takes two grown ass people to use up a Costco roll of cling wrap - in our case it took us about 12 years and two house moves!

First corn on the cob we’ve made this year. We did it elote-style with mayo, (hand grated!) cotija cheese, Tajin, and lime squeezed over.

Not a Barred Owl (although there is one there!) but this is Smoky the Eastern Screech Owl at Potomac Overlook in Arlington. I did the Owl Prowl last year and now I can’t get that “who votes for you?” out of my head. <3

First day of weekend early voting. I was met with volunteers from Alyia, Chapman and Elnoubi campaigns but Amy’s was the only one who gave me a sample ballot.

It was so great to meet Punky, Gonzo, Bart, Knuckles, Bug, Odie, and Gabby with Lily and Lulu and their humans today along with @kirkmcpike.bsky.social at the dog park in Del Ray! Gave out a lot of treats and all my Pride bandanas. They looked terrific on these pups! Photo courtesy of Karl

It felt like it took me all afternoon to caramelize pounds of onions and I had to serve it with a teaspoon. Steakies went well with it!

Impromptu celebrating a friend over for dinner: bacon wrapped dates stuffed with bleu or manchego cheese and grilled crispy, squash and peppers on the other grill, cucumber salad, cheese plate and filets!
