I have been using www.chezmoi.io to help with this.
It will manage your dotfiles for you. You can also have scripts during initialization, to install a `brew` bundle, and a `mas` bundle too.

With all that, I can have my full setup (apps, plugins, configs) all installed and setup with one cli line.

This is the exact reason why I would defend this pattern. I agree that you should make things easy to understand, but if people are not willing to do the bare minimum investigation they should be re-trained or let go. I never like the idea of "lowering the bar", it just leads to overall bad habits.

I have seen one good use is autocompleting code. It recognizes what I am trying to do, and generates the rest for me. I still need to edit and correct the code, but it does save me time.
AI for first drafts, AND ONLY first drafts, of art, writing, code etc is a good use case in my mind.
