But this is my point. Any of the eight, or Schumer, could be making a "this is why we did this" case. None of them is capable of doing that, even as liars, in any sort of a coherent way.

Schumer and the Eight are chasing voters that literally don't exist, and it's one of the reasons I'm confident that they're gonna lose the fight for the future of the party.

Like, whatever you think about Whitehouse's argument here, he's at least engaging with the majority of the base of the party—speaking words that are consistent with an understanding of where the party's grassroots is at.

Here is a fun fact: the "cooling saucer of democracy" quote is almost certainly as apocryphal as the cherry tree story, being first attested to in the 1880s.
Makes you wonder who it was that had cause to praise congressional gridlock and stagnation in the late 19th century exactly

I've got some more that I can't remember—on a hard drive crash a while ago my "covers" playlist was lost, and I haven't fully reconstituted it yet. So expect more at random intervals indefinitely. (Also, that "Let's Get It On" cover is fucking amazing.)

i've been trying to avoid arguing with will for the in that i've been trying to avoid arguing generally - but i'll note the man aggressively quote tweets people replying to him and if he believes the dynamic of using followers to discourage criticism is toxic he should stop doing it so much

The gist was along the lines of "Dems need to stop acting the way that bad-faith leftists accuse them of acting."

And again, we're not guaranteed to win, and we're not going to sit around hoping for a win. We need to be out there working—out doing the anti-authoritarian work in the streets that needs doing, pushing candidates and electeds to do more, building grassroots infrastructure. Working. Fighting.

Even prominent moderates are lining up to condemn this cave. When Kathy Hochul is on Team Fight, it's clear which direction the wind is blowing in.

To be clear, what I'm saying here is that you can't make Schumer not-Schumer by shaming him. That doesn't mean you shouldn't shame him recreationally, as a team-building exercise, or pour encourager les autres.
Part of what it means to be Team Fight is a recognition that you win by winning. Just as Schumer can't shame Trump into being something other than what he is, we can't shame Schumer and the rest.
The job is to beat them. The job is to win.
The job is to beat them. The job is to win.

And I don't think we need fifty Team Fight senators—I think a lot of the remaining Don't Fight folks will fall in line once Team Fight has wrested control of the party.
But until then, the job is to win. And if I'm wrong about them falling in line, then the job is to beat them too.
