In a human au rockstar Lestat fic I wrote, Claudia had a massive crush on Tough Cookie...
"Cookie… she’s hot.” “You … you fancy Cookie?” asked Louis, doing a double take. He then laughed. At his own misplaced horror and then the reality. Of course, Claudia had been looking at the videos to watch Tough Cookie, not his boyfriend. It explained the signed band poster she had on the wall of her bedroom back home. It was one with Tough Cookie at the front, clutching her bass guitar as she slid on her knees towards the camera lens. All this time he’d been worried about an unhealthy obsession with Lestat’s band and it had been the petite, twenty-year-old female bassist who’d caught her attention.

Gladioli usually flower in late summer - July to Sept.
Mine have just sent up 2 flower spikes now, at the start of October (due to climate change). Have had to stake them (not in the vampire-killing way) to stop them from getting blown over in the 50mph winds expected later today from Storm Amy.

It reminds me of some of the ideas they had about how to treat covid 19, ideas not widely accepted by the scientific community as lacking in evidence. Meanwhile, they keep refusing to acknowledge that increased numbers diagnosed on the spectrum is at least partly down to better diagnostic techniques
Kennedy added that the FDA will soon approve leucovorin, a decades-old drug traditionally used to protect cancer patients against toxicity from chemotherapy, to be used as treatment for children with autism. FDA Commissioner Marty Makary said the approval will be based on research that he said suggests the drug may help children with autism who are deficient in folate, a form of vitamin B, improve their verbal communication. But researchers have cautioned that the science is still in the very early stages, and more work is needed before any firm conclusions can be reached. The Autism Science Foundation, a US charity, said low folate levels during early pregnancy have been linked in some studies to an increased risk of autism in children, though the findings are not consistent. Studies in Norway, the US and Israel found that mothers who took folic acid supplements around conception had children with a 30-70% lower likelihood of autism. But other studies did not find a significant association. The charity said the suggestion folate may improve some symptoms comes from trials of leucovorin, also known as folinic acid. Some research has shown that unlike regular folic acid, folinic acid can more easily cross the blood brain barrier and address a deficiency of the vitamin. Four small, randomised trials, all using different doses and measurements of success, have been carried out. One, from 2016, studied 48 autistic children in the US and found improvements in verbal communication compared with a placebo.

It's because of the tariffs - they've created chaos
The changes mean packages valued at under $800 will face the same tariff rate as other goods from their country of origin - for the UK that's 10%. Previously, the de minimis exemption meant goods valued at $800 or less could enter the US without paying any border taxes.

Here's a non-spoilery tease where Dale thinks Louis has been eating koala...
It was then, with Louis leaning close, that Dale spotted something red in the corner of his mouth. Without thinking, Dale reached out to brush at it with his fingertips. “You have something on your mouth... sauce maybe?” Then he frowned as he squinted at what looked like some strands of fluff caught on the slight stubble of Louis’ chin. He grimaced at the realisation that it resembled animal fur. “That looks like … is that… is that fur?” Louis quickly leaned back and wiped his mouth on the back of his hand. “I don’t believe you’re still doin’ that!” Louis scowled as if it was a long running bone of contention. “How many times do I have to tell you, it’s rude.” “So’s eating koalas, but that’s what it looks like you’ve been up to,” pointed out Dale, his lips pursed as he opened the pizza box. The disdainful look he got in return made him feel the need to ensure that Louis didn’t think he really believed he’d been eating the indigenous wildlife. “No need to pretend you’re offended, I was just kidding.”
