Don’t forget the workplace parking levy

When your council voted to continue subsidising free parking in Porobello last week and therefore encouraging car dependent lifestyles is that the fault of the Scottish Government too or will you accept some responsibility for the issue?

I would hope so. Stockbridge is a traffic sewer and pedestrian nightmare. It would benefit significantly from traffic restrictions and wider footways with or without trams.

Im aware it’s complex and I’m not saying it’s cheaper than roseburn but it would clearly serve more passengers and closer to RIE too. I’m also not saying it would be the best route but it should IMO have been included in the feasibility study rather than the Dean Bridge route.

The north bridge route will have similar utilities and disruption as Leith Walk has seen. Seem to me it’s a political decision ‘not to upset the new towners’

So how can you say it’s not viable? To me it looks cheaper than orchard brae (avoids Dean bridge) and would likely serve more passengers than both. Speed is a political decision not to restrict traffic.

Was it in the feasibility study? I can’t find any references to it ever being considered as an option

They mention Stockbridge. Why is that not viable?

Definitely feels longer

Council saying one of the goals is “support new developments” so that’s induced demand from the get go. They’ll need another relief road for the relief road soon enough. Also good to see it’s one of those ‘safe and environmental friendly’ roads. 🤦🏼

Tactiles shouldn’t be buff either

Abysmal. CEC giving cyclists false security of a secure bike lane when really it’s as good as a painted lane. As ever, cost cutting has resulted in a false economy with reduced quality and a long term maintenance headache.
