I'm at the Bangor History Festival today. First talk, in the wonderful Bangor Cathedral, was "St Deiniol’s Cathedral and the Medieval Bishops of Bangor" by Dr Shaun McGuinness.

New exhibition in the Oriel Môn history gallery - Anglesey and the Topographical Tradition. A great collection of antique engravings from places around Anglesey. It will be on show until 18 January 2026.

Does anyone know the location of the missing Telford milestone near Holyhead? 82 of the distinctive markers along the Holyhead Road/A5 from Shrewsbury survive, but the one 2 miles from the port has disappeared.

I had an excellent evening at the newly restored @friendlesschurches.bsky.social church St Doged's, Llanddoged, near Llanrwst, where we heard a talk by their director Rachel Morley as well as the architect and conservator.

My biography of Giuseppe Rinvolucri has been published in The Diversity Project (works.hcommons.org/records/dtb9...), by the Dictionary of Welsh Biography. He was the Italian architect of Our Lady Star of the Sea church in Amlwch. Read about the church at www.anglesey-history.co.uk/places/churc...

My office for today: the National Archives Kew. I will be looking at documents related to Giuseppe Rinvolucri, the Italian architect who designed the Catholic church in Amlwch. Can't wait to see what I find!
