The American Nurses Association reminds us nurses have a duty to stand up against human rights violations. Alex did. No one should die for it. Let’s honor Alex not just with words, but with action from every nurse and every nursing organization and association. Now is the time.

Alex Pretti was a hero. A VA ICU nurse, father, union member, and compassionate caregiver devoted to veterans and their families. He was executed by U.S. federal agents during an immigration enforcement action, a state killing that must not be justified, ignored, or normalized.

And the headline should state this.
