After the international break, the schedule ramps up to 2–3 matches a week until the next pause. In past seasons, that’s meant fatigue and underperformance from overplayed players. This season, with more rotation likely, is the bigger risk disjointed performances from a lack of rhythm instead?

Interesting take on Sunderland! Could you expand on why you see them as favorites for 19th? That feels quite different from the general consensus, where most expect them to have a better shot at staying up than the other promoted sides

Feels like we’d have nicked that game last year if Sterling + Butler-Oyedeji came on at the break. #arsecastextra @gunnerblog.bsky.social

With defenders it’s easier to talent id, they are cheaper and easier to sell if they are not on too large wages (zinny)

It’s easy to understand that we do not have the capability to write off these mistakes. 2-3 big failed buys, and the project could be set back several years. In big contrast to MCFC, MUFC and CFC

I disagree with people characterizing Arteta as a defensive coach. I think he might be quite conservative when it comes to offensive players, and not trusting many players to be able to execute his vision. Often relying on a selected few. When you see the money wasted on attackers from rivals….

This sounds like a job for the bankruptcy barrel

Would be cool to study team vulnerabilities, do their defeats show patterns, like certain channels or passing styles being exploited?

If a team keeps scoring, conceding, or going down to 10 men early, the stats just capture their reactions, not their intended game plan
August 31, 2025 at 4:13 AM
Stats rarely capture game state. One goal or a red card can flip a match on its head, but it often gets overlooked in the data

✅ Disorganized first game of the season
✅ Difficult away game at Old Trafford
✅ Energized debut in front of home crowd by 225.7m € of new attacking MUFC signings
✅ Weak refereeing

Gooodly morning

Any surprises from yesterday? Positively or negatively.

I’m relieved and a bit concerned. But not necessarily surprised.

The strange thing is that this really didn’t work last season, but I’ve seen nothing to indicate that we are doing something different this summer. I really feel for Martinelli and I don’t think buying a new LW will solve anything

Still don’t get our left side.
LW isolated, underlapping LCM with low-touch and stepping on the toes of a high-central LB that vacates huge gaps for LCB to deal with.

Right side’s so well-drilled even a 17- or 15-year-old slots in seamlessly

Hva synes @kasperwikestad.bsky.social om @eirikaase.bsky.social sin vurdering av Norwich denne sesongen? 11. plass!!?

It sounds like the club might need to sell before making any major signings, but with reports suggesting Crystal Palace has set a deadline for Eze’s potential transfer, do you think they’ll take the risk and buy first, or play it safe and wait for sales? #arsecastextra
