It's actually implemented in Lua. There's a few forge mods that enable you to write custom scripts for the game, using only Lua functions. Much easier than dealing with Java + modding APIs, but will run a bit slower.

I'd say cross-post to the places that have an audience you like. It's more effort, but overall lets people see your things on the platforms they actually use - rather than not at all because everything's exclusive to the one they never touch.
