1/2 .. European defense industry has been cuckold by American industry for decades, this goes hand in hand with the U.S. made Europe dependent on their nuclear umbrella and security interest in Europe. That has shifted now and at the moment it's a game of "catch up".

You are 200% correct, that is the way to go and I think that is the trajectory for the future. Like you say it will take time to adjust but since America elected this moron twice it shows that nothing is sure for the future.

Yes there is a problem with Taurus, it uses some American components. The U.S. actually stopped Germany from delivering Taurus to Ukraine previous, it has surprisingly not been mention in media.
However, there is a new model being made and I assume it will have less U.S. components.

Well, America has shown its colours and that they are not reliable. I think Sweden will avoid buying "bulk" of American equipment or quantity because "you never know". Sure they might buy smaller samples to keep them somewhat happy but Swedish defense industry is ramping up and work with Ukraine.

Swedish Minister of Defense made clear the other week that Sweden will not include Ukrainian support in the Swedish defense budget, it's a separate budget. As for the other countries, well I guess we'll see.

Not in other ways then that Sweden already got a few Taurus delivered and that they have probably started production again.
Also since Germany held on to their Taurus like a wallet in a pick pocket convention they probably have a descent stock. With SAAB involved I think they will be in action soon

They are buying Taurus and not American. In fact the Taurus was co developed with Sweden ( SAAB ) so it's a natural choice. Sweden have also put in an order for IRIS-T SLM medium range air defense.

I've said this for a little while now, I think France will be the major NATO leader in Europe and I think that's great. No matter what we think about USA but at the moment we need them. Pretty sure we are working towards independence from U.S. in the future, Trump or not.
