That’s an outlier. Latest poll and poll of polls puts Labour on 21% 10% behind Reform. All of which would still be deeply worrying if there was an election tomorrow. The last time I checked however there won’t be a GE for 4 years. When it occurs it will be between Labour and Reform. Choose wisely.

A divided left is the way to guarantee a Farage Reich and all the horrors that will involve for ordinary people and minorities .
When faced with the stark option of a fascist or a wooly bourgeois social democrat, the correct choice is always the latter.

It certainly would make an interesting comparative study. I would however see Louis Napoleon as a ‘proto’ fascist. Capitalism in crisis does tend to throw up authoritarianism. Agree with you about Trump and Putin.

I see more similarities between Trumpism and the regime of Napoleon III. Hubris, narcissism and feet of clay.

Elected leaders tend to have power. Democracies provide constraints. It’s an artful but in my opinion rather silly analogy.

I’ve never before viewed ‘Big Brother’ as a rather insipid human rights lawyer. The ideological zeal and cultish following of his predecessor seems more the ticket.
