Honestly George I don’t know when or how this will end. But I hope it does. These sycophantic cowards in institutions that should be standing up to Trump—I hope that they pay a price in thei careerrs once the orange one is gone.

Lord protect us from more of this “both sides are equally wrong” nonsense.

Pitiful. I hate that I’m in the position of hoping the economy tanks in order to win the House back. But I guess what I’m really saying is that I hope Trump and his supporters reap what they sow.

Vance Mr C: Mr. C is a brilliant and embittered intellectual. He was a poor white-trash Southern boy, a scholarship student at two universities where he took all the scholastic honors but was never invited to join a fraternity…..but they have seldom invited him—or his wife—to dinner.

Reading Wineapple’s book now. It’s terrific. It’s depressing, in the sense that the religious right still holds sway over too many things. But also reassuring, because in the end there has been some progress; things are not quite as awful as they were in the good old days.

100 true. I’ve also been impressed by the few companies (like …Costco!?) that are keeping their efforts alive. They see it as a business issue, to compete in a shrinking and more diverse labor pool, they need to reach out to diverse communities—demonstrate why they are a good choice for a career.

It’s excellent. And its themes are all too familiar today.

I see a book called “Chapter 7”. Sort of a horror/literary fiction mashup.
