I’ve been VERY SLOWLY listening through the Bertini Mahler cycle. 1-4 were uniformly great performances but now I’m at No. 5 and HOLY SHIT this is blisteringly powerful! I feel like no one talks about this one, but for me it’s right up there with Barbirolli, Karajan, Barshai, Lenny…. just wow!

I cried today because I felt like I’m not allowed to be a woman if I look like this. I cried because I feel beat down by the expectations the world has for me to aesthetically legitimise my womanhood. I still walked out the door, as me, and I’m proud of myself for that. Small wins 🏳️‍⚧️
