I welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement today that this government is bringing in a digital ID system. I want to be clear - this is not a compulsory ID system. You will never be forced to carry your ID or produce it on demand.

Great to attend the launch of the APPG for Access to Nature's new report yesterday, which calls for "new statutory rights for responsible access" to the English countryside.

As @andymacnaemp.bsky.social said, "my own view is that we need a default right of access." @righttoroam.bsky.social 1/

If you promise to build homes, you must deliver them - it’s as simple as that.

Our Labour Government is fulfilling its promise to build 1.5 million homes by simplifying the process of approving new projects across the UK.

It was great to have the support of MPs @philbrickellmp.bsky.social @andymacnaemp.bsky.social @simonforstroud.bsky.social & @carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social outside the Supreme Court earlier for wild camping verdict!

Now we need the Govt to pass legislation to extend public access rights to nature!

This Labour government is delivering results for working people. I'm very happy that many of my constituents will be better off due to these pay rises.

I very much welcome the announcement that Labour will be investing a record £2.65 billion into flood defences protecting lives, homes and businesses in every region of the country.

I'm looking forward to the full list of flood defence projects being published in March.

I’m backing a bill to get tough on criminals who steal tools from the vans of working people.
The loss of earnings resulting from tool theft is much bigger than the value of the items stolen. It affects the livelihood of tradespeople. This must change.

The Tories squandered billions of pounds on dodgy deals with Covid cronies. Our Bill will help to get that money back. People who exploit a national emergency for personal profit should be taken to court for their crimes.

The Conservatives left our rivers, lakes and seas choked by record levels of sewage. Last night, I voted for Labour’s Water (Special Measures) Bill to clean them up by placing water companies under special measures with new powers to ban bonuses & bring criminal charges against polluting bosses.

Roads in Rossendale and Darwen have been plagued by potholes for far too long.

Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has announced that this Labour Government is investing up to £12,000,000 in Lancashire and £1,000,000 in Blackburn with Darwen to fix potholes as part of our Plan for Change.
