Like any good long-time developer, I'm always happy to jump on a JavaScript hate bandwagon.

That said, I do love how simple it is to create a browser extension that gets rid of the "Sign in with Google" pop-ups that plague the internet.

Maybe should make one for things like "Rewrite with AI" too..

Any time I see software bugs I now think to myself, "and that's what you get for coding with AI."

I feel like I am understanding bigotry on a deeper level.

The duality of programmers:

Bragging one week about pushing code that worked without testing, and then waking up in a cold sweat a week or two later with the realization you introduced a bug and seeing ~100 messages in the company dev chat.

My computer: 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 128GB Ram, NVIDIA 4080, gigabit internet...

Adobe's Acrobat: "You want to what, read and audit a PDF? Oh boy, we're going to be here for a while to download/install this."

7 minutes to install this cancer, how embarrassing.

Realizing I'll have accomplished driving on two separate continents on differing sides of the road today.

Not saying it's spectacular or anything, but it's a little interesting.

It's very important to pack efficiently for international business trips.

If you don't, how will you fit the D&D handbooks, dice, and extra character sheets for the team?
September 18, 2025 at 9:06 PM
Do any other devs feel like pushing code you haven't tested and having it work the first time is the closest we get to walking away from an explosion without looking?

That would also mean the 80% of times that don't work are like walking away too late and getting thrown around.

When I teach programming/technology to people, I try to drill the mantra "it's all fake, break something to learn something" into them.

Semi-related, if anyone heard me grumbling "BrEaK sOmEThInG to LeArN SomEtHiNg" yesterday, I may have misread an API doc and deleted an entire set of DNS records.

Lukewarm take of the weekend...

Emojis were a lot more interesting when they were ASCII(ish)-only.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It feels like 30th St. Station covering up the electric outlets to force you to pay for a charger is a great example of where we're taking things a bit too far, right?

This heat is making me look like a baseball pitcher icing his arm between innings / after a game.

The only difference being that the ace bandages are holding the ice packs underneath my armpits to try and regulate my body temp.

Spring cleaning is any time during spring, right? Not necessarily the beginning of it?

New fitness goal: Make enough progress each month that my Oma's neighbors in Boalsburg, PA question whether the guy running once a month is some kind of mutant.

My friend said she wanted to go into an old record store in Cambridge yesterday. Now I'm coding to John Coltrane.

...Not that there's anything wrong with it, just not what I'd have guessed my Sunday would entail.

Let me see if I've caught up on this... Walz cheered Tesla stocks falling, and now he is taking it back?

Is it just me or do we have a distinct lack of people in power/influence who understand how to deal with a bully?

I cannot begin to describe how little I would like to revisit my year in Edge.

My friends: "How does anyone go tubing for a 2 full hours?"

Me: "OK on this run I pointed my toes inward while planking, and I actually got to the final brake pad. Next run I will point inward and switch grip the launch sticks, I think I can get over the final pad."

Sharing a gripe w/ @oddenough.art & realized halfway through what was actually bothering me.

This is an alarmingly consistent outcome to any conversation he and I have in life.

(If curious, it's that I am IMMEDIATELY suspicious of anyone who wants people to think they are smart or a leader)

Just had to dust off the old Surface Duo in order to get an old file.

Honestly? I miss this thing.

If anyone is wondering where -I- am in adapting to AI being shoved in my face all the time:

Today my phone sent me what appeared to be a text message from "Gemini."

I blocked it and reported it as spam, and not by accident.

To all retailers who are obviously watching my bsky:

If I wake up on the Monday after Thanksgiving to an email from you saying "Our Cyber Monday Sale Ends Today," I can promise you I won't be buying anything from you out of principle.

When I built my computer I was told getting 128gb RAM was "comical" and "overkill."

I'm currently sitting at 91% memory usage, and I'm not even running any 3D programs.

Screenshotting so the next time I bitch about how bad society is at software dev I can just point when someone disagrees.

Saw a post yesterday about Unity that was a meme showing how Unity helped you skip steps in game dev (learning C++, writing a renderer, dealing w/ platform deps).

I decided to make my own version that I feel reflects what using Unity is REALLY like. BEHOLD! I am bad at memes, sorry not sorry.

I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to come up with an acceptable way to refer to the previous hour and a half of getting our engine compiling again on macOS.

I haven't come up with anything that's OK for public consumption, which is the perfect description of Mac based development.
